Day 1Arrival in Morocco – Transfer to Fes

To begin this amazing 8 Days Morocco Tour from Fes to Marrakech , you can arrive at Casablanca International Airport or Rabat International Airport if direct flights to Fes International Airport are not available. Our dedicated driver guide will provide a comfortable transfer directly to Fes, the “old city.” Upon arrival, you will enjoy dinner and overnight in a local Riad or Hotel nestled in the heart of the Medina, immersing you in the authentic Moroccan atmosphere from day one.

Day 2 Fes Sightseeing (City Tour)

After a delightful breakfast, you will embark on a captivating journey to discover the most historical and cultural city in Morocco: Fes, often referred to as the “spiritual city of Morocco.” Your guided tour in Fez will lead you through the labyrinthine alleys of the Medina – the old city, marveling at its intricate architecture.

Your exploration will include many significant monuments such as:

  • The Jewish Quarter (Mellah): Discover the first Mellah ever built in Morocco, a testament to the city’s diverse history.

  • Dar El Makhzen or Royal Palace: Admire its colorful mosaicked architecture and grand golden doors.

  • The famous Chaouwara Tanneries: Witness the largest leather workshop in the city, built in the 11th century, where traditional methods of leather processing are still in use.

  • The Kairaouine Mosque: Explore this ancient school of Islamic learning, one of the oldest universities in the world. While non-Muslims cannot enter, you can admire the mosque courtyard from the gates.

  • The Najjarine Marble Fountain: A beautiful example of Moroccan craftsmanship.

  • Al-Attarine Madrassa: A religious school showcasing some of the most striking Islamic architecture.

  • The Bou Inania Medersa: One of Fes’s most architecturally beautiful theological colleges.

You will have time for lunch in a Moroccan local restaurant, savoring authentic flavors. Afterward, you will discover the Bab Boujloud archway, noting how its mosaics change color from blue on the exterior wall to green on the interior, symbolizing the sacred color of Islam. Stroll around the vibrant streets and markets of the Medina. Later, we will take you to a panoramic viewpoint to enjoy an amazing view over the sprawling Medina of Fes El-Bali. Dinner and overnight at the same Riad in the Medina.

Day 3 Fez to Merzouga via Ifrane & Midelt – Gateway to the Sahara Desert

After breakfast, you will leave the subtle charm of Fes and embark on a journey towards Merzouga via Midelt and the Ziz Valley. Today, you will travel through Ifrane, a beautiful mountain village often named the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine charm. You will also stop at the cedar forest on the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you will have the opportunity to see the playful Barbary apes. Your journey continues to Midelt along the magnificent hills and mountains of the Atlas. After lunch in Midelt, you’ll be traveling through the fascinating Tiz Ntalghamt pass and the spectacular Ziz Gorge, taking in views of the High Atlas plateau. Witness how the scenery dramatically changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the province of the south-east Errachidia city. Afterward, you’ll travel along the fantastic Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way to Erfoud and Rissani. Arriving in Merzouga in the afternoon, you’ll be welcomed with a refreshing glass of mint tea. Then, prepare for an exhilarating camel ride into the golden dunes of the Sahara Desert of Merzouga to reach your desert camp, where you will spend the night. Overnight in a Berber tent in the middle of Erg Chebbi’s golden dunes.

Day 4 Merzouga to Todra Gorges & Dades Valley – Desert Sunrise and Canyon Wonders

Your camel guide will wake you up early in the morning to witness what may be the best sunrise of your life. You will ascend the Sand Dunes of Sahara of Erg Chebbi to watch the wonderful sunrise, painting the desert in hues of gold and orange. After this magical moment, you’ll peacefully camel-trek back to the village of Merzouga. En route, you’ll appreciate the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes, constantly changing with the light. After breakfast and a hot shower in the riad, you’ll leave for Rissani, Tinghir, and the magnificent Todra Gorges – known as the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco. After lunch in the heart of the gorge, we’ll drive through the Dades Valley, where you’ll see the majestic sand castles and the amazing rock formations known as «monkey toes». Overnight accommodation will be in a fancy guest house overlooking the Dades Valley, including dinner and breakfast.

Day 5 Dades Valley to Marrakech via Ouarzazate & Ait Ben Haddou

After breakfast in your accommodation, you will start traveling through the Dades Valley towards Ouarzazate and then to Marrakech. The road through Dades Valley is famously called the “way of the thousand Kasbahs” – providing numerous opportunities to capture stunning photographic shots of the trip. You will stop at Kalaat M’Gouna, the center of the Rose Valley, where you will have the option to visit the cooperative for the roses and purchase rosewater, a fragrant souvenir. Continue to Marrakech via the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. Built by Et Hami El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chieftains during the 19th century, this Kasbah is now a house of many Glaoui people and a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is also a famous filming location for many movies. Your journey will continue through the majestic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m) over the High Atlas Mountains, where you will have the opportunity to explore the process of producing Argan oil – a unique Moroccan treasure – by Berber women in their cooperative, before arriving at your overnight accommodation in Marrakech.

Day 6 Marrakech Sightseeing – A Sensory Feast

After breakfast in the Riad, you can start exploring Marrakech, the “Red City of Morocco.” We will ensure that you see the most important sites of historical and cultural interest, including:

  • The Majorelle Gardens: A tranquil oasis of vibrant blue and exotic plants.

  • The Koutoubia Tower: The iconic minaret of Marrakech.

  • The Saadian tombs: Discover the beautifully adorned royal necropolis.

  • The Bahia Palace: An architectural masterpiece showcasing Moroccan craftsmanship.

  • Djemaa el-Fna Square: The lively main square, a UNESCO Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

After lunch at a restaurant near the square, you will walk through the souks and view hundreds of handicrafts. In the afternoon, you will have some free time to wander by yourself and explore other parts of the city. Marrakech, nicknamed the “Red City” for its old red sandstone city walls and buildings, has Berber rather than Arab roots and was an important trading capital for tribes of the Atlas mountains. Orient yourself around Marrakech’s bustling Jemaa el-Fna Square: the souks are to the north, the Koutoubia Mosque and Gardens to the west and the kasbah area with the Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, and El Badi Palace are to the south. In the new city, you will find the Majorelle Gardens. Indulge your senses as you explore the complicated labyrinth of souks, tucked behind ordinary restaurants and shops. Check out Souk el Attarin, Souk Chouari, and Souk Smata for a selection of spices, woodwork, and babouche (traditional Moroccan slippers). Visit Souk of Tanneries or the dyers’ souk to see how cloth and yarn are dyed using traditional methods. Next, admire the fine example of Moroccan Islamic architecture of the Ben Youssef Madrasa, a 16th-century Koranic school, and note the ornate detail of its interior: carved cedar ceilings, sculpted plaster, and zellij tiling. Overnight in your accommodation.

Day 7 Marrakech to Fes via Casablanca & Rabat – Coastal Beauty and Imperial Grandeur

After breakfast in your hotel, you will travel from the red city of Marrakech to Casablanca, a journey of approximately two and a half hours. In Casablanca, you will visit the biggest mosque, Hassan II Mosque, a breathtaking architectural marvel. Then, you will continue to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. In Rabat, we will start with Bab Challah, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, one of the main gates of the royal palace, and the Oudaya Kasbah. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. Afterward, we will drive straight to Fes and check into your hotel.
